We had a lovely time! The place was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the linens were nice. The host was extremely responsive. It was easy to walk, drive or take the bus to/from Oxford and surrounding areas. Highly recommend.

Lovely and convenient place to stay for a weekend in Oxford. If you are looking for a peaceful homely place close to the city, but not in the centre this is perfect. Really easy to walk into Oxford or taking the bus. Lovely garden area, good sized kitchen and lounge area to feel right at home. The host was very friendly and responsive. We had a couple of questions & a minor issue on arrival but the host was very helpful and responsive in resolving things. Lots of really helpful information provided .

This was the perfect place to spend ten days whilst we were in Oxford for our daughter’s wedding. The cottage was lovely and with our adult children was very comfortable for six people, with space to entertain our wider family - who were all very impressed that we had found this gem. It was spotlessly clean, and when we had a minor issue the local manager was understanding and responsive. She resolved everything to our satisfaction. Thank you - we would come again and highly recommend Midsomer Cottage.

Beautiful area and fun to walk about. Plenty of space for our family of 6, including two kids upstairs. We did our grocery shopping at the nearby Sainsbury (the one with parking!). Close drive to Oxford and Blenheim. Very responsive host with clear instructions. Thank you!

We had a lovely stay at Midsomer Cottage. It was very comfortable and warm. We loved watching the squirrels in the garden. It is well equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed walking down to the lock, through the old part of the village, not far from the house. And walking further along the river into Oxford. The street parking was good. A good base to explore the area.

Just got back from a girls weekend away at Sue’s place. Such a lovely home, enough on-street parking right outside the house for our 3 cars, beautiful view of the large magnolia tree (my favourite) and snow drops from the kitchen/living room window, close to Oxford centre (10 min drive at most), all amenities provided such as tea, sugar, milk etc. and a bottle of champagne! Clean towels and bedding, bathrooms and kitchen (and whole home) were spotless - we all felt right at home right away! I requested a slightly later (11am) checkout on Sunday and Carie Ann was really helpful and able to accommodate this - always on-hand for any help throughout the whole process. Oxford itself had so much to do/see, lovely bars/restaurants, beautiful city. I would recommend Oxford for anyone looking for a UK city break weekend away, and would absolutely recommend Sue’s place to stay at.

We absolutely loved our stay at Midsomer Cottage. The place was cosy, clean and the kitchen was well stocked with a variety of cookware. The location was perfect, very near Oxford centre. The street side parking was ideal. The welcome treats were much appreciated too. Carie Ann responded quickly with any of our questions. Highly recommended!

Lovely place, ideal for me and my family spending the Michaelmas term at Oxford. Amazing light from windows on three sides, ample street parking right outside, quiet area, 5 minute walk to Thames path, straight bike or bus to City Centre, easy out to the interstates for trips to London. Highly recommend, particularly if you plan or hope to have a car with you during your stay.Farr

We had a really great stay at Sue's place - a big, clean house with a cute garden and a super lovely and useful location, in the heart of Iffley village and a literally 7min bus ride from the city centre. Strongly recommended!

We absolutely loved our time at Midsomer Cottage and in the village of Iffley. The cottage was so welcoming and comfortable for our group of 4 ladies. The welcome basket with bread, biscuits, cereal, wine, etc., along with fresh butter, milk and orange juice, was so very kind and appreciated. The home had everything we needed, and the beds and bedding, were fabulous after long days of exploring. We very much appreciated the multiple bathrooms for getting ready. We had lovely weather and enjoyed an afternoon in the back garden. We enjoyed wonderful dinners at the Farmhouse, Prince of Wales Pub and we especially loved the Indian restaurant, The Tree at Iffley. Walking around the village, and along the river, was a great way to end our days. Transportation was easy to and from Oxford via bus or cab and we took the train to Morton-in-Marsh on two occasions. We would all highly recommend staying at Midsomer Cottage.

Very comfortable and homely stay at Midsomer Cottage. We settled in for 5 weeks and enjoyed the location; close to several restaurants, groceries and of course Oxford University. Cheryl was always available for assistance if we needed her. Beds and furniture were super comfortable.

We were in Oxford for the weekend for a wedding and Midsomer Cottage was the perfect place for us to stay. The location was perfect and the house was gorgeous - exactly as described. The check-in process couldn’t have been easier. We wouldn’t hesitate to return for our next Oxford event.

We had a lovely stay at Midsommer Cottage. The location is great, just outside Oxford with east access to shops for essential items. The cottage itself is very comfortable and welcoming and has great facilities, good wifi, cot and high chair for baby, lovely patio area to eat outside and comfortable beds. The kitchen was well equipped and the shower pressure great! Check in and check out was super easy with the help of Cheryl. A great base to explore the area. Thank you Sue and Cheryl.

Midsomer Cottage is a warm, homely house with a lovely atmosphere. It is well equipped and beautifully clean. The attic bedroom up 'paddle' stairs does need to be considered for young children but as six mobile wrinklys we did not find them a problem! The private garden at the rear has seating and is a delight. There is on road parking. The house is ideally situated out of the hustle and bustle of Oxford, which is a half hour walk away beside the river. The local bus to Oxford is a number 3. There are a few pubs nearby, a local community shop and a Co-op and Sainsbury's not far away. Cheryl the manager is very friendly, approachable and helpful. We would have no hesitation in recommending Midsomer Cottage if you are considering a visit to Oxford.”

“Charming, fully updated cottage in a prime location. On the first day we took the bus into the center of Oxford, which was super easy to reach, but most of the time we walked in via the path along the Thames. That took about half an hour but was idyllic, passing gardens, a nature preserve and even horses. A very English experience! Host was very responsive and also has a manager nearby who brought us an extra fan when requested.”

“Thank you to Sue and Cheryl for a fantastic stay. The house was perfect for 4 adults to relax after walking parts of the Thames Path, easily accessible from Iffley Lock. Spacious and homely. Two Good pubs within 5/10 minutes walk, and Bus 3/3A direct to Oxford within 3 minutes’ walk. The village was friendly, quiet and picturesque, but very convenient for everything.”

Thank you Cheryl and Sue for a lovely weekend. The cottage has been fab, charming, idylic. Highlights include the garden and the birdsong CD in the lounge, as well as the DVD selection (Wind in the Willows really impressive). It has been a perfect place for our reunion, after meeting in Australia last year. Thank you so much.

Our family of five stayed in this wonderful Victorian property in December and cannot fault it. The property owner Sue was a delight and so very welcoming, Sue went out of her way to help settle us in and to pass on advice on best places to eat, local walks etc etc. The house is full of character, warm, clean and very comfortable. Our children loved the quirky layout (actually we adults did to) Its in a perfect location and the village is beautiful and offers a choice of places to eat right on the doorstep. I could not fault any aspect of this property and if you prefer to cook at home then the kitchen has everything you will need. We hope to go back one day.
Thanks Sue

We really enjoyed our stay in Midsomer cottage. It was everything we hoped for and needed. The Iffley village is a very charming neighbourhood, and it was very convinient with the bus running into Oxford, but also very nice to walk into the center. I can really recomend it!!

Dear Sue,
I posted a review on TripAdvisor about Midsomer, but wanted to write you directly to tell you that John and I has the most glorious time at Midsomer. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the most wonderful welcome basket to our last day when we bid Cheryl farewell, our stay with absolutely perfect.
We had been looking for an experience like Midsomer and Iffley since we first starting letting flats in Oxford four years ago. While the other flats were perfectly fine, all were in modern apartment complexes in Summertown and Jericho and none had the Iffley feeling – a real community. We frequented the Village Shop, the Prince of Wales pub, walked every day along the tow path. In other words for two weeks, we were able to feel like real Iffley residents. We even have the good fortune of knowing someone who lives in the village.
Midsomer is a joy – so beautifully and thoughtfully designed – perfectly equipped – comfortable and living next door to Cheryl was so great! She – as everyone says – is such a bonus. Lovely, knowledgeable, and a fund of local information.
Thank you for everything and we look forward to returning to Midsomer in the future.
Warm wishes,
Susan
